The Sequel RCA breaks Egyptian Event record!

Our young sire The Sequel RCA continues his rise to follow in his famous father’s impressive hoofprints. Every year at the Egyptian Event, the Egyptian Breeders Challenge (EBC) auction offers breeders the chance to bid on breedings from their favorite stallions. The resulting foals from these breedings are eligible to compete as yearlings in an exclusive cash prize class! At the 2008 Egyptian Event, The Sequel RCA shone as his EBC breeding was sold for the highest price at the 2008 auction!
The Pyramid Society’s Executive Director Anna Bishop notes, “Arabians Ltd. has supported the auction since its inception and their clients have experienced the thrill of being in the EBC winners’ circle an inordinate number of times. The fact that The Sequel RCA’s breeding was the highest-selling breeding in ‘08 is further testimony to the confidence that clients have in the ongoing strength of the Arabians Ltd. breeding program.”
Our good friends Gary and Sandra Fernandes of Lyday Farms, who are also faithful Thee Desperado lifetime breeders, were the lucky high bidders on Sequel’s breeding, which they bought for $12,500!!
According to Gary, “Our strategy in acquiring this breeding was based in part on our past success in breeding The Sequel to our foundation mare Thee Makers Rose (Thee Makers Mark x TF Shardali). Our first filly out of this cross, LF The Desert Rose, reflects the very best of Egyptian Arabian type and the extreme beauty and grace of The Sequel RCA. At Lyday Farms we have always committed ourselves to the very best in quality in every aspect of our operations. We believe that breeding to The Sequel RCA is consistent with our objective of seeking out and producing the very best in the Arabian industry.”
The gorgeous Thee Makers Rose was the 2001 Egyptian Breeders Challenge Champion Filly, so we’re hopeful that her foal will carry on that legacy. Rose was also the Liberty Champion at the 2008 Egyptian Event, proving that she’s still got it! We can’t wait to see the results of this wonderful cross when their second foal is born in 2010!
