In 1974, she decided it was time to follow her heart and buy an Arabian horse. Her first show horse, a stallion named Cheque, who won many championships in halter, English Pleasure and Western Pleasure. Carolyn still speaks with pride about the time she and Cheque beat Tom McNair and Walter Chapman in an Western Pleasure class. In 1993 Martha Murdock guided Carolyn’s mare Tsarah to a unanimous Region 9 Championship in Show Hack. Later that year at the Canadian Nationals, she was watching Tsarah from ringside where she met David Gardner, Carolyn spoke glowingly of The Minstril and Thee Desperado who would be the first father/son combination to be in the ring for Top Ten Nationals honors that year. They struck a deal to breed her pure polish mare Anit-Lass to the straight Egyptian Thee Desperado.

A colt, Aladro Desperado resulted and went on to win several Junior Championships but Carolyn was hooked on the straight Egyptian horses for their beauty and attitude and purchased Moonlight Sonataa (*Shahir IASB and April Sonataa) and the colt, Amir Amante (Thee Desperado x Amiri Sanaa). They were bred to produce the mare, Amiri Jolie, who she bred to Mishaal HP in 2005 and has produced the gorgeous colt Paladium.

Carolyn speaks fondly of the relationship she developed with the Sirbaskus, Shawn and everyone at Arabians Ltd. She appreciates the help finding the right foundation stock and the continuing evaluation of her breeding program. She loves these beautiful horses and is so proud and thankful that she made that acquaintance at ringside thirteen years ago.
